Travel back in time 60 million years before dinosaurs and immerse yourself in the life and landscapes of the Permian Period! This family-friendly, easy 1-km hike not only takes place along a beautiful stretch of Prince Edward Island's shoreline, but is our province's most prolific fossil site.
Laura MacNeil, geologist and educator, will transport you back in time to Age of Synapsids, when sail-backed pelycosaurs, reptiliomorphs and early reptiles roamed amongst the first coniferous forests at the centre of the largest supercontinent in Earth history: Pangea. Get hands on with real P.E.I. fossils and casts, have fun fossil hunting with your family, and see P.E.I.'s largest fossil. After participating in a Prehistoric Island Tour will never look at Prince Edward Island the same way again, guaranteed!
